Dinupa Kodagoda has been a promising artist since her childhood in the fields of music, dance, theatre, and film. She gained fame in Sri Lanka as a child artist, participating in the children’s musical television programme ‘Hapan Pedura’ from 2001 to 2007. Known for her unique singing style, Dinupa has worked with both local and international musicians, exploring a variety of music genres as a professional recording artist and live performer.
In 2020, she released ‘Premaneeya Susuma’, which was critically acclaimed as an original rock song sung by a Sri Lankan female artist. Dinupa officially debuted as a songwriter with the ‘Rosa Malak Wagei’ children’s song while being a member of the ‘Hapan Pedura’. Another popular song featuring Dinupa is ‘Kuweni’, with the music video portraying her as a lead character.
Dinupa has been a dancer and singer since childhood and has continued her studies in Hindustani Classical Music. She has been involved with the Dr. Premasiri Khemadasa Foundation, where she trained and worked as an Opera singer. Furthermore, Dinupa is a member of the THEEVRA band and performing arts ensemble and currently working as the position of co-director of the THEEVRA Arts Organization.
Dinupa holds a Performing Arts (Special) Degree from the University of Visual and Performing Arts – Colombo. Her research dissertation, titled “ASPECTS OF KATHAK FOUND IN FLAMENCO DANCE,” provided an in-depth analysis of how the Kathak dance tradition has influenced the Flamenco dance tradition.
Aside from her musical endeavours, Dinupa has also gained experience as an actor in theatre, cinema, and television, working with renowned directors. Recognized for her contributions to performing arts, both locally and internationally, Dinupa continues to seek new artistic challenges to make a positive impact on society.
